Knowing about auto insurance coverageMost of the auto insurance companies would provide coverage for you and your passenger in the event of accident. However it is up to the vehicle or insurance owner to decide the level of coverage they need to receive. There are a number of questions you need to answer with regards to auto insurance coverage. This means you need to find out whether the company would provide coverage to the damages done to your property or whether all the passengers would be covered on just your family members. You should also find out about the coverage options when your son or daughter is driving your vehicle. There are also some important questions you need to ask the auto insurance company when it comes to find out about your auto insurance and its coverage. Types of auto insurance and companiesThe third party insurance or liability insurance is a general and lowest form of information which is offered by auto insurance companies. It is a basic insurance and when you are involved in an accident and if the accident was out of your fault then the auto insurance company would pay for the damages done to the other party. The coverage offered by your auto insurance company is generally set in advance. Therefore these are just the maximum amount the insurance company would pay in case of an accident. This means that the agent would agree on about $10000 coverage over every person and around $40000 coverage for bodily injury including $10000 in property damage for an accident. Therefore you will have to confirm whether your auto insurance company would cover these issues and to what extent would the coverage be. You might also be offered a lower premium by some auto insurance companies which is only to realize that your coverage is unrealistic and minimal. You also need to find out about comprehensive and collision coverage, comprehensive insurance and also about full comprehensive insurance. The auto insurance company would generally provide you a comprehensive insurance and as the name says it, you would be covered comprehensively. This simply means that in case you are held responsible for an accident or collision the auto insurance company would pay for all the repairs for the car. However it is often not so simple, as the auto insurance company would most often have their final say regarding what amount they would pay out. So, if the price is cheaper to offer you market value for the vehicle then they would do it. You might also think that your vehicle is worth nearly $1000.00 and the current market value is around $500.00, but this is often a common scenario you will find. Therefore if the repairs for your vehicle are more than the current market value then the auto insurance company would just pay you the book value of the vehicle. You should also ensure that the insurance company is not in control of the current market value for your vehicle because most often organizations such as AA would give you an impartial current market value. However when it comes to third party insurance the auto insurance company would almost surely limit the amount which would be paid out but speaking generally when it comes to comprehensive insurance it would have higher limits. In case you have a recreational vehicle then it should have its own insurance policy. The insurance for these vehicles is often not the same like auto insurance. Therefore you should not assume it because your vehicle is insured comprehensively and so will your recreational vehicle. Some other types of insurance include medical , persona injury protection and no fault coverage insurance. These types of insurance offered by the company would often cover your medical expenses and that of your passengers in the event of an accident. The other no fault insurance coverage means that the auto insurance company would pay for the damages regardless of the person at fault. This often give you peace of mind and at the very least your friends and family are covered under this policy. Persona injury protection is generally a minimum requirement in some states or countries and so you can ask your insurance company about its requirements. There is also the uninsured or underinsured motorist’s coverage which will generally cover you when the person at fault is not insured or is underinsured. However you need to ask your insurance company what you would be charged in case of such insurance coverage although the insurance company should not charge you any extra premiums. Some of the states might require a certain level of auto insurance coverage which can be anywhere from a third party auto insurance coverage to even a full comprehensive car insurance. Therefore make sure you wisely choose your auto insurance company. |
